My 7 week old son has been diagnosed with acid reflux and was prescribed Prevacid. He has been on it for about 5 weeks. But since birth, he has been having episodes of breath holding usually following a spit up. His face turns red, he tightens his lips, his eyes water and are fixated and he arches his back. He does this a few times a day and there doesn't appear to be any type of pattern. It can be immediately after a bottle or hours after a bottle. We have changed his formula numerous times without any change. He is currently on the Good Start ready-to-feed formula. Has anyone heard of this or experienced this?? I need advice!!

My 1 month old daughter was just diagnosed with acid reflux. Her docs put her on zantac, and she has been on it for 3 days. its seems to help just a little, but she still cry's for 80% of the day. I was looking around the internet and i found something called Colic Calm Gripe Water. Im not to keen into giving my kids remedies that say all natural, at that young of an age. But, the sites say its a miracle worker. I want to hear from real people who have actually used this product. Please help. My daughter needs relief and i need help!!
Resolved Question: If your infant had acid reflux (4 months or younger).....?
Posted by rose 113 days ago (http://answers.yahoo.com)
What medication did you end up sticking with and what were the pros and cons of using it? My baby was dealing with his reflux without medication until recently, and we put him on Zantac (Ranitidine). It worked for a few days, but now he's back to spitting up very frequently and showing a lot of discomfort. What else is out there that works well and isn't harmful? I have googled this several times but didn't find any good testimonies from real moms. Thanks!Mylicon is not for acid reflux. But it works great for gas, and I use it often.I was feeding my son Enfamil AR but it wasn't helping much and it constipated him horribly. So I switched to Earth's Best Organic formula and we like it a lot so far.
Resolved Question: Infant acid reflux? 8 wk old.?
Posted by rose 139 days ago (http://answers.yahoo.com)
My son is 8 weeks old today and recently he has started gagging occasionally, never during feeding, usually about an hour or so after. He has foamy spit bubbles and he doesn't necessarily spit up alot, but he always has wet burps. He has only ever thrown up twice. He doesn't cry out of pain when he eats but at 8 weeks old, he still does not consistantly eat an entire 4 oz bottle. On occasion he'll eat the entire bottle, but more often than not, he'll only eat 2 ounces before he refuses more. Last night he ate an ounce and refused more and still slept a solid 5 hours, but during the rest of the day he'll want to eat more often.. about every 2 - 2.5 hours. If we make it to 3 hours, it's a miracle. He is on Similac Advance formula and according to the pediatrician and the last time he was measured and weighed, he's gained almost 4 lbs since birth and right on target. We do have an appointment for his 2 month shots tomorrow and I'll ask the doc about the acid reflux but I was wondering if anyone else experienced something similar to this as far as symptoms?
Resolved Question: Can infants have Acid Reflux Disease?
Posted by rose 140 days ago (http://answers.yahoo.com)
My grandson is almost 3 months old. He was a preemie and weighs about 9 lbs. He's takes a bottle of 5 oz every 2-4 hours. It's scary because sometimes he throws up-a lot, not just spit up. My daughter switched to soy formula but the vomiting continues. He gets really uncomfortable then just vomits. Is it possible for him to have Acid Reflux Disease? And if so, what can she do about it? Thanks!!!
Madeleine is 3 1/2 months old and has been showing all of the symptoms of acid reflux (from my research online anyway) for over 3 weeks now. Just when she seemed to get over her severe gas problems, she started waking up in her sleep 2-3 times in the night screaming, would arch her back and cry while trying to eat all day, always seems starving (especially after 8PM), spits up with every bottle, sweats profusely and snores like my husband! My poor little one is usually a very happy baby, but she is miserable most of the day now. I brought the symptoms up with our current doc and she didn't even mention acid reflux! She just said...well, babies do that. She will grow out of it. What can I do?
Resolved Question: Is it acid reflux in my infant?
Posted by rose 190 days ago (http://answers.yahoo.com)
I have twins... they are about 11 weeks old.. Im having a real hard time with the baby boy.. The DR said it is acid reflux... which i guess would make sense because the poor thing is always suffering after feedings and he doesnt sleep but maybe 20-30 minutes at a time.. as he gets older it's starting to get worse.. Im starting to think it might be something else.. he is also having what looks like muscle spasms but only when he is screaming in pain.. has anyone seen anything like this with their own infants? He is on prilosec prescription... and he is already on very expensive alementum formula... When he starts crying there is NOTHING we can do to make him stop he just passes out eventually.. he will do this every couple of hours.I wasnt able to breast feed because of compications with labor.. and they were stuck in the NICU for a while. They were born at 33 weeks.I know a lot of u are suggesting incline sleeping.. but he refuses to sleep at an incline it seems like he is in more pain that way.. he will only sleep on his tummy..he already eats at a sitting up position and stays seated up till he cries himself to sleep.. which is like an hour or so after feeding.. we also have tried thickening his feedings with rice.
Resolved Question: Infant Acid Reflux how do I deal with it?
Posted by rose 210 days ago (http://answers.yahoo.com)
I was just told my month old has Acid Reflux. It is very hard to deal with as he is fussy and crying most of the day and night and in pain after he eats. I was told today that it may take up to 6 months to resolve itself. Oh my! 6 months? I thought I would only have to deal with this for three months??Anyone else gone through this? How did you cope with a colicky/ acid reflux baby? I love him more than anything, but some days I want to pull my hair out. I feel guilty when I find myself wishing his babyhood away and wish he would skip to 7 months when he will be better.
